Judicial Clerkships : Delaware

All the information you need in order to understand and apply for judicial clerkships.

DE - Clerkship by Court

DE Courts clear application timelines and generally post application information on the court's website as it is updated.  Courts links are included below.

The DE Superior Court recruits through Kline OCI, as well as several of the GPALS Job Fairs that CSO publicizes.  Watch for application information on Symplicity in June or July this summer for positions starting a year from September.  (Ex: July 2022 recruitment is targeted for clerks starting in September 2023.)  The DE Superior Court welcomes students who are planning to take the bar in other states.  There are no residency or bar requirements.

DE Chancery & Supreme Court are extremely competitive positions.  The application deadlines are usually in January and February of 2L year.* With many corporate headquarters located in Delaware, the DE Chancery and Supreme Court handle a high volume of corporate and IP cases.  In terms of number of applicants and GPA expectations, these courts may be even more competitive then a federal clerkship.  If you are interested in this clerkship, you should consider a summer position or co-op in the DE courts.

* For AJDS this would be the first January and February you are in the building. Ex:  January 2023 deadline for a September 2024 position.
