This guide provides contact information for some of the institutions and organizations that do provide free legal assistance to the general public.  Note that in order to qualify for free services, you may have to meet certain income restrictions (that is, your income has to be below a certain level).  There may also be additional qualification requirements such as residency (where you live) or what type of legal issue you have.  Also note that although these providers generally do not charge any attorney fees associated with the legal services rendered, you may be required to pay for other fees, such as court filing fees.  Most offices require you to call and make an appointment, but some do have certain hours when walk-ins are welcome (see individual websites for details).  Please note that this is not an exhaustive list; there may be other organizations that would better suit your individual needs.
