The House and Senate reports state that much of the Defend Trade Secrets Act civil remedies provisions are derived from the Uniform Trade Secrets Act

Many of the Defend Trade Secret Act's ex parte seizure provisions were derived or inspired by those found in trademark law.

Congress.gov's legislative history for the Economic Espionage Act of 1996, Pub. L. No 104-294, 110 Stat. 3488 which the DTSA amends.

Congress.gov's legislative history to the Theft of Trade Secrets Clarification Act of 2012, Pub. L. No: 112-236, 126 Stat. 1627. Congress amended the jurisdictional requirements to the EEA in response to a narrow reading of the original language in U.S. v. Aleynikov, 676 F.3d 71 (2d Cir. 2012). This language was subsequently used in the DTSA as well.
