A sampling of foreign and international databases set up for trademark searching.
Trademarks are classified in two ways: by type of goods and services and by design elements. The Nice Classification is an international classification of trademarks by goods and services that has been adopted by the USPTO and many other national trademark offices. The Vienna Classification is an international classification of trademark design elements. The USPTO's Design Code Search Manual is derived from the Vienna Classification and uses the same top-level categories, but has different subcategories for many designs.
